The much rumoured 13-inch version of the MacBook Pro with Retina display is set to be unveiled during Apple's iPad mini event rather than a week or so afterwards, as previously thought.

At least, that's the word from a "consistently reliable source at a high-profile US retailer".

Apple-specific site 9to5Mac also claims that the new computer will come in two different configurations, with contrasting processors. It also states that its source has told the website that the new MacBook Pro will go on sale shortly after launch.

At present, we still don't know for sure what date the iPad mini event is planned for. The most recent tip-off suggests that Apple's new, smaller tablet will be unveiled on 23 October, which would comply with previous rumours that the device will go on sale on 2 November, in time for the Christmas rush.

However, Pocket-lint is still to receive an official invite for the launch of either product. When we do, you can rest assured that we'll let you know.
